Church or Civil Service, Michael has the music to make your day special
Weddings
Music for your special day
Michael is an accomplished church organist, and as well as regular services and many
weddings, has been fortunate to play for Christmas Day Mass at Arundel Cathedral and
for a special packed-out service in the cathedral like Chapel at Lancing College. He is
equally happy playing for Civil Ceremonies.
At church weddings, he finds regular musical favourites include the ever popular
Widor Toccata and the stirring Hornpipe from Handel’s Water music, as well, of course,
as the traditional Wedding March. Whilst signing the register, some couples opt for
gentle light classical music, such as Pachelbel’s Canon or The Air on a G String, whilst
others prefer to hear their favourite love ballads played softly. If you are looking for an
extra special touch, Michael can bring along a soprano with him to sing favourites such
as Ave Maria during the signing of the registers, or perhaps a trumpeter to add a
musical touch of class to the Trumpet Voluntary.
If you are having a Civil Ceremony, Michael will play the Grand Piano if one is available or, if not, is
happy to bring along a Digital Piano or one of his electronic Keyboards or Organs, which can sound
either like a traditional classical organ or any orchestral or band instrument you can imagine.
The spectrum of music suitable here is very wide and Michael has been asked to play beautiful
romantic melodies including The Wind Beneath My Wings and Love Changes Everything to give a
romantic feel, whilst, for a triumphal piece of exit music, one couple chose the theme from
Star Trek, The Next Generation!
Michael plays for weddings big and small. Amongst his more lavish engagements have
been be playing for music mogul Simon Cowell’s brother’s ceremony and at services
where guests have included Sir Paul McCartney and Sinnitta. He puts just the same
amount of enthusiasm into playing for small family services in the tiniest of parish
churches and for Civil Ceremonies. For Michael, it is always about using the magic of
his music to make the happy couple’s day as special as is possible.
Once the main service is over, Michael can play gentle jazz to welcome your guests to your reception. The quality solo cocktail piano ambience can
be further enhanced by the addition of singers and musicians to make a duo, trio or quartet.
